Darren sharpe mbacp (Accred)

Hi, I'm Darren.

I am an accredited member of The BACP, practising as a Person Centered counsellor in the Humanistic tradition. Broadly, this means that I work with themes that my client brings and a session is led by that subject matter. I always strive to practice with warmth and empathy but I'm also aware that I have developed a style which is forthright and will face subjects head on. This modality is termed Dialogical, as the name suggests I enter into a dialogue with my clients and bring my true self to each session. My aim always is helping clients to drill down into what is really going on. This may be known or unknown to the client when they start, but throughout I am kind and understanding, encouraging and I will only ever work only in the your best interest.

My entire career has been about helping others and have worked therapeutically for more than 10 years. Most recently I have been a volunteer counsellor for a local charity working with a range of clients and a range of issues.

Previously, I have worked with disaffected young people and helping long-term job seekers to gain meaningful employment. I have managed a team of trainers for care homes and have raised foster children in my care for a range of durations.

I have delivered training for many years and currently I specialise in delivering counselling training, mindfulness training and on subjects such as Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, Attachment and Parenting.

Every life choice I've made has been led by my desire to bring good to those who most need it.
